Mainly handles patients in the ICU floor will be dealing with medically complex patients. However, you will float to other floors as needed and see some neuro (stroke) and post-op (e.g. ortho) patients too. Good thing is you will be provided with a sheet to set your own goals every week so you can decide who want to observe or what types of patients you want to see. Review any material you have re: lines/tubes you will encounter in the hospital, vital signs, lab values, as well as any material you have on the settings where patients may go after discharge from the hospital to help you with discharge planning. Healthcare providers rely on us a lot for this so know what each setting entails such as SNF vs Inpatient rehab vs Home Health etc. Don't worry about reviewing pharmacology! You will learn of it whilst your there. You won't fail don't worry too much!
